HISTORY
After 67 years as a national organization, Sigma Chi went international when it installed Beta Omega Chapter at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario on April 22, 1922.
The Father of this 1st Canadian chapter was Ralph Connable, who was vice president and general manager of the F.W. Woolworth Company in Canada.

Judge DeGraff was installing officer and was assisted by an imposing array of Sigma Chi “brass”, consisting of Grand Consul Joseph T. Miller, Judge Ferris, Howard Ferris Jr., John B. McPherson, Alex A. Sharp, and Carmi Smith. The last named was a chaptermate of Brother Connable at Albion.
Just before initiation a luncheon was served at the National Club in downtown Toronto to which the fathers of the petitioners were invited. Past Grand Consuls Ferris and DeGraff told the group about the ideals and objectives of Sigma Chi and enthusiastic responses were made by a number of the fathers. A member of the Fraternity was seated beside each parent.
After the splendid initiation ceremony the whole group went directly to the banquet room of the King Edward Hotel, later to be the site of the 1957 Grand Council. Scottish pipers were on hand and “gave” with some delightful music. Grand Consul Joseph T. Miller welcomed the first Canadian chapter into the fold. Judge Ferris occupied his usual place on the program – last.
That wonderful Sig, Ralph Connable, bore the entire expense of the installation!

EVENTS SCHEDULE
Friday May 13, 2022
Various a la carte tours and events will be organized during the day for tours of Toronto landmarks, including Hockey Hall of Fame, CN tower etc;
The Sigma Chi Executive Committee, the Risk Management Foundation and Sigma Chi Canada House Corporations will hold all-day meetings at the Sheraton;
4:30pm to 6:30pm: OPENING RECEPTION Central Courtyard of the newly renovated Sheraton Centre Hotel(Downtown Toronto)
6:30pm to 10:00pm: SELF-ORGANIZED DINNER – following the Welcome Reception brothers are invited to organize themselves into group dinner bookings. Use this time to catch up with old friends or meet your active chapters and break bread.
The Organizing Committee will provide a list of venues accommodating larger Sigma Chi groups OR you can plan ahead and choose your own place for dinner.
10:00pm(approximately) until late: Night Out with Brothers – a venue will be announced for brothers convene upon for a night of brotherhood and reconnection.
Saturday May 14, 2022
Morning: Free Time – optional a la carte tours in the morning to the Hockey Hall of Fame, Rogers Centre, CN tower etc. Stay tuned.
9:00 AM to 11:30 AM: House Corporation, RMF and Canadian Foundation Meetings (for those brothers involved in the aforementioned).
11:30 AM to 12:45 PM: Order of Constantine & Significant Sig Lunch – a special event at the Sheraton Centre to honour new members of the Order of Constantine & to recognize Significant Sigs (ticketed separately)
12:30 PM to 3:30 PM: Specially reserved space at the Sheraton has been secured for each Chapter to hold Chapter specific meeting or gathering. More details forthcoming.
5:30 PM to 6:30 PM: Pre-gala reception at the Royal York Hotel
7:00 PM to 11:30 PM: The 100th Anniversary Gala will be in the newly renovated Grand Ballroom of the Royal York Hotel
(Menus are seasonal and will be announced soon. Choice of proteins will be beef, chicken or a vegetarian option).

Tours remain available. Chapters can host Chapter specific events if they wish prior to Brothers departing, otherwise, this is free time.
