The Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi was founded on June 27, 1957. At the time of it’s founding, it became Sigma Chi’s 149th chapter and Canada’s fifth chapter.

Located at the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, the Epsilon Omicron Chapter is the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization on it’s campus.

The chapter is active both terms of the year: Fall and Winter. It holds numerous social, philanthropic and leadership building events in and around the Montreal area.

A bit of history :

excerpts from “History of the Sigma Chi Fraternity 1955 to 1980” by Douglas R. Carlson, Minnesota ’73.

The 30 charter members of the Epsilon Omicron chapter at the University of Western Ontario, formerly the Chi Delta Sigma local fraternity, were initiated on June 27, 1957. This was the third day of the 51st Grand Chapter and the Installation, held at the Toronto Masonic Temple, was witnessed by the Grand Chapter delegates and Fraternity officers.

Chi Delta Sigma was originally formed as “the Campus Men’s Club” in October 1954 by a group of students at the university with the backing of Robert C. Varah, Toronto & Western Ontario ’57, who had associated with C. James Grimes and R. Thomas Merry. After receiving recognition as a local fraternity, Chi Delta Sigma received active and unfailing support from the installing chapter, Beta Omega, and the Toronto Alumni Chapter.

At the time of the founding of the Epsilon Omicron Chapter, the president of the University of Western Ontario was Dr. George Edward Hall, Canada’s first Significant Sig, who served as the chapter’s chief installing officer. [Brother Graham believes that the distinction of being Canada’s first Significant Sig belongs to Harold Fair, President of the Brown Company in Boston, MA, but would like the information double checked] Many other individual brothers also aided and encouraged the members of Chi Delta Sigma, in particular: J. Beverly Milner, Toronto ’25 (who also fathered the Gamma Rho chapter at Dalhousie University); John. W. Graham; and Edward “Ted” Rogers, who coordinated the efforts of those anxious to have Chi Delta Sigma become a chapter of Sigma Chi, the fifth Canadian one.
